DJs
DJs are an essential part of the Lindy Focus experience. These vintage dance music experts know how to keep the social dancing going before, after, and in-between all the live music. With a deep understanding of swing music history and a passion for keeping the tradition alive, they spin the perfect mix of classic and contemporary tunes to get you moving.
Michael Quisao plays music that moves you. He believes that there are few things better than well-written liner notes and helping to inspire creative, fulfilling dances through music that compels movement. He has had the privilege of DJing for numerous dance exchanges, weekend workshops, camps, and competitions, including national events such as the DC Lindy Exchange, California Balboa Classic, Camp Hollywood, Boston Tea Party, All Balboa Weekend, Bal-Ast Off, and Barcelona Balboa Weekend. Michael has served as Head DJ at events such as Lindy Focus, New York Bal Week, Great Lakes Balboa Escape, Stardust Slow Balboa Weekend, Swing Out New Hampshire, Slow Dance Soirée, and I Heart Balboa. Michael has served as Head DJ & Music Director at New Columbia Swing since 2018 and runs the DC Bal Social together with Annabel Quisao.
Allison began DJing swing music when she was a baby lindy hopper in college. Since then, she has become a regular swing DJ in the Durham, N.C. area and in the national dance scene, playing for dancers at events like Lindy Focus, Camp Hollywood, CalBal, All Balboa Weekend and more. Allison is passionate about sharing swing music that inspires new and experienced dancers alike. She’s a fan of catchy melodies, small group arrangements and a good clarinet solo (not necessarily in that order).
If Andi's setlists were food, they'd be comfort food. Sometimes sweet, sometimes spicy, always delicious. Get your fill of party blues, slow drag tunes, sassy jazz numbers, and more as she returns to help cook up chaos in late night Blue Ridge.
Jeff has been DJing dance parties for nearly twenty years now, and is excited to share his love of great blues and jazz music at Lindy Focus. He'll be doing his best to keep the blues room grooving as late as possible every night.
Joanna started swing dancing in 2004 while attending college in NY but owes her love of jazz to a childhood fascination with all things vintage. Her love of swing era music has only grown since then. Today Joanna serves as the DJ Coordinator for the Austin Swing Syndicate, and Head DJ for Hot Rhythm Holiday. From Lindyfest to Snowball, Joanna has enjoyed being a guest DJ at events around the country and abroad. Her goal as a DJ is to create sets with driving energy that’ll keep you dancing whether it’s with a partner or rockin’ out solo. For her, it’s all about that rhythm and the chance to be playful.
Kenneth has been spinning tunes for well over a decade, creating breakdance mixes from his dad's vinyl collection to DJing hip hop / break competitions in college. After falling in love with blues in 2014, he's spent the past few years learning and diving into the wide variety of blues styles and history. Kenneth aims to get you grooving and moving every time you step out onto the dance floor. He loves playing with your faves while also showcasing the soul/blues legends from his hometown of Nashville and his new home of St. Louis.
Omar has been collecting music for Blues, Swing, and Soul since he was a lil dude. It wasn't until after he started Lindy Hop did he decide to start getting people to dance. He began DJing in 2010. Since then, he has left-clicked tunes all over the world, in such locations as Barcelona, Stockholm, and Seoul. Currently, he is a regular DJ in the Atlanta area. He was the head DJ for Flying Home '24. Omar plays bangers.
Ross Blythe (Santa Fe) thinks music is great, and that you should dance to it. Often, he’ll be dancing in his seat while selecting the next song. Slide some bourbon over and chat with him about what’s playing! Sure to bring the party, Ross has DJ’ed for Sweet Molasses Blues, Steel City Blues, Toronto Blues Battle, Backwater Blues, and other regional and national events. He was a staple at Chicago’s monthly event Bluetopia, as well as weekly and monthly swing and balboa dances, and currently spins in Santa Fe.
I am excited to return to Lindy Focus once again as a DJ, with my collections of swing, blues, and soul etc. I am inspired to play music that is rare and musically playful, on top of the classic hits, to promote creativity on the dance floor. I have been DJing since 2012, and have been staff DJ for Herrang Dance Camp, Lindy Focus, Snowball, Beijing Swingtime Ball etc as well as various dances in cities around China like Shanghai & Guangzhou, and cities in the US, like New York City and Washington DC.
